SD Route: Entry Qualifications:

  • Honours degree: 2:2 or above preferably in a primary curriculum subject area or education-based. 

 

  • Applicants who will complete their Honours degree by the end of the academic year 2021-22 are welcome to apply but any offer of a place will be conditional on their gaining the predicted classification by the deadline date.

 

  • Prior experience in a school is not required.   

  • GCSE English Language, mathematics and science grade C/4 or above (or equivalent). HJS/Shire Alliance will consider applicants who have one of these qualifications pending, but they must all be in place by the date of enrolment of the programme. Recognised equivalency tests are accepted.

 

  • Overseas equivalent qualifications are accepted if they have been certified through NARIC [National Academic Recognition Centre]

 

  • An assessment of fundamental English and mathematics knowledge will be undertaken prior to the award of QTS. Any shortfalls must be addressed by the trainee teacher.

  • All successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS and medical check
