
You are considering embarking upon a challenging career. Developing children's social, personal and intellectual capacities is a responsible and rewarding task. The quality of your initial training is of paramount importance in developing the acquisition of effective teaching skills.
Shire offers training across the 3-11 age range. Trainees choose 2 consecutive age phases to train within. The choices are: 3-7 (EYFS and KS1), 5-11 (KS1 and KS2).


Hillborough Junior School and the Pioneer Learning Trust are working in partnership with the Shire Foundation, as the DFE accredited Teacher Training provider, and with a cluster of primary schools to offer school-based teacher training.
There are 2 courses available for 2022 entry,:

The Provider Led Course (PGCE) is validated by the University of Buckingham. This can be studied over 1 year, or as a part-time 2-year option (Training Programme Code 2HL2 or AE45) The tuition fee is £9,250 for the full-time route and £5000 per year for the part-time route, for a September 2022 start.

The School Direct (salaried) route which can be QTS only or with a PGCE (Training programme codes: 2HKY or AE28)
